Almost a year ago, Huawei filed a lawsuit against Samsung for patent infringement related to 4G-related communications technology, user interface software, and operating system. Huawei demanded compensation from Samsung for infringement of these patents. Samsung responded in its own way with its own lawsuit against Huawei, in which it simply accused Huawei of the same thing and also demanded compensation. However, Samsung sued Huawei in different lawsuits in different countries, not in one class action.

However, the court ruled in favor of Huawei and ordered Samsung to pay US$11 in damages for infringing Huawei's patents. This is the first ever court verdict in the legal disputes between Huawei and Samsung. Huawei said it welcomed the decision, while Samsung responded by reviewing the decision and filing an appeal. The court also ordered Samsung to immediately stop using Huawei's patents.
