The so-called Infinity display in Galaxy The S8 is certainly an impressive piece of work from Samsung. It is the dominant feature of the phone that differentiates it from its competition. However, new reports from South Korea came with interesting information - Samsung is apparently working on a special version of the panel that will have all four sides curved. That means the ones above and below.
The report further states that this panel would allow for a phone with a 98% screen-to-body ratio. As a result, there would be only one large display on the front. These changes would differentiate the range Galaxy from the competition even more, which pays off in the mobile market.
It all looks good on paper, but the report also states that the production (lamination) of the panel is quite difficult and these manufacturing defects must be eliminated first. The current lamination process does not allow all four corners to be curved. But Samsung is confident and looking forward to being able to introduce a new line of phones next year.
