When I unpacked the Evolveo Strongphone G4 and held it in my hand for the first time, it was immediately clear to me that the phone would really last. However, it is redeemed by its higher weight. The magnesium frame is not just an advertising message, and the mobile phone is mechanically strong. Solidity and reliability radiate from the design and materials used. According to the manufacturer, the construction of the phone meets the requirements of the tests of the US Department of Defense (MIL-STD-810G:2008). The phone should be waterproof and unbreakable. Nevertheless, it does without massive rubber protective frames and at first glance it looks like an executive phone.
Evolveo is a Czech brand. The mobile phone is manufactured in China. The European ambitions of this brand are explained by the attached brief instructions for using and operating the phone, which is available in most European languages. Thanks to the fact that Evolveo is a Czech brand, better service and technical support can be expected. The mobile phone is thoroughly encased. You cannot achieve a "hard" reset by disconnecting the battery. We used the Evolveo Strongphone G4 on a daily basis and never once did it freeze, despite torturing it with multiple apps running in the background. Operating system Android 6.0 runs smoothly on this phone.
Applications opened quickly, the quad-core Mediatek processor handled everything without any problems. In its category, this mobile phone has a decent capacity of internal memory – 32 GB. In addition, the memory can be expanded with a microSDHC card. The SIM card is inserted together with the memory card into the slot located on the side of the device. To ensure water tightness, all entrances are sealed with rubber caps. Therefore, if you put the mobile phone in the charger or connect headphones, you must first remove the covers and then put them back on. Increased labor is a tax for water resistance. In the instructions, the manufacturer specifies the proclaimed waterproofness according to the IP68 standard for 30 minutes, at a depth of up to one meter in a freshwater environment.
It is clear that the mobile phone will withstand a normal spill or fall into water without damage. We wanted to test whether the mobile phone would "survive" in the back pocket of trousers and washing in an automatic washing machine, but we felt sorry for the phone after all. The phone has a built-in camera with a resolution of only eight megapixels, but it makes up for it with the quality of the selected SONY Exmor R image sensor. If the camera has enough light, it takes very decent photos. The start and volume buttons are easily operated with the thumb of the right hand. The dark side bars of the mobile phone can be replaced with silver ones. The included micro screwdriver is used for replacement, which immediately tempted us to use it to test the display's scratch resistance. The third-generation Gorilla Glass display held up bravely. The mobile connected to Wi-Fi easily and quickly, reliably created a hotspot and provided everything expected from a mobile of this category. The mobile phone is clearly intended for work in a demanding environment, during outdoor activities, on construction sites, in the workshop... You can carry it in your trouser pocket, or even in your back pocket, without any worries.
A comparison is offered with the Samsung Xcover 4 mobile phone: this mobile phone of an established brand has, unlike the Evolveo Strongphone G4 model, a higher camera resolution (13 MPx), which is to be expected, since Samsung relies on the quality of the camera in its mobile phones, it has the same processor performance, but only half the internal memory (16 GB) and lower battery capacity (2 mAh). Evolveo Strongphone G800 went on sale in the Czech market at the beginning of the year. The final price including VAT is 4 crowns. For this price, you get a powerful mobile phone and get rid of worries about possible damage when used in demanding conditions. If the price of the phone were to drop, the Evolveo Strongphone G7 would have no competition in its category.
