In recent years, technology companies have become increasingly interested in autonomous cars. Google i is testing its solution Apple and the furthest currently is of course Tesla. But Samsung also wants to have a piece of the pie, so it's going to contribute a bit to the mill as well. About a year ago, the company modified a racetrack it owns in South Korea to test components for an autonomous car. But now she got permission to drive the car on public roads.

Samsung's permission was granted by the South Korean ministry, and the company hopes it will provide more detailed test results that will help it develop better sensors and computing modules operated by artificial intelligence. Their top-notch reliability is, of course, absolutely necessary when the car is put into service.

While it might appear that the South Korean giant does indeed have plans to introduce its own autonomous car, its latest moves don't necessarily mean it will happen. Young Sohn, the director of Samsung's strategy department, has already stated that they are not yet going to create their own car that would be able to drive itself. It is thus possible that the company will end up developing only advanced components and software that it will sell to other companies. Even the car he is currently testing is not of his own production. This is one of the Hyundai models.
