OLED panels, which Samsung has used in its phones for many years, have their advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, they display colors more vividly, manufacturers can bend them, and if they display mostly black, they are significantly more economical than LCDs. Unfortunately, it also suffers from the same problem. Visible burn-in may occur if one element is displayed in the same place for a long time. And this problem also had to be solved by Samsung u Galaxy The S8 and its new home button.

Software home button on Galaxy The user can set the S8 so that it is constantly shown on the display, i.e. even when the screen is otherwise off. This is a problem, however, because after a while the button would definitely burn into the display. So the South Koreans came up with an ingenious solution and programmed the button to constantly move slightly, so it always shows "somewhere else."

However, the shift is so minimal that the user is never able to register it, but at the same time, the button does not burn into the display. Additionally, the button only moves when the device is locked. In the case of other software navigation buttons, nothing similar happens. But Samsung assumes that users don't use the phone sometimes, so in their case it would burn like the home key, which can be left displayed essentially permanently.
