Contactless payment systems are increasingly popular in the Czech Republic. Lately, you can easily see even a 70-year-old grandmother putting her contactless payment card to the terminal when she buys as many sweets as possible in a sale for her grandchildren at Kaufland. However, payment cards are still not as safe or convenient as everyone would like, so services like Samsung Pay are born, Android Pay or Apple Pay. And now Kerv comes with an NFC ring.

Kerv launched its project on Kickstarter two years ago. The target amount was collected, so now the NFC rings have finally gone on sale. You can buy it at manufacturer's official website. There are 14 color variants to choose from. The price reached 99 pounds, i.e. over 3 CZK. For now, however, it is only possible to order the ring to an address in England, but later it should be extended to other European countries and, of course, to the USA and Australia. Of course, it is also possible to use one of the special transport services, which will forward the parcel sent to your English address to the Czech Republic for a fee. It can be used, for example nakupyvanglii.cz or dolphi-transport.com

With the ring, it is possible to pay a transaction of up to 30 pounds (just under 1000 CZK). The payment technology was created in cooperation with Mastercard, so it is possible to pay with the ring basically anywhere in the world where contactless terminals are available (there are blessedly many of them in the Czech Republic). Kerv does not need to be recharged and you do not even need to pair it with your phone. It works simply on the principle of prepayment, where you send money to the account in the ring and then pay. You can top up the ring through payment cards from Visa, Mastercarand even through PayPal.

It is also worth noting that the ring may not only work for contactless payment, but also supports various NFC locks and security systems or smartphones and other devices. It even supports the London transport system, where you can just put your hand with the ring on the turnstile and you have a ticket. There are a lot of options for the future, so it remains to be seen how Kerv will deal with them.
