I dare say that each of us attaches a certain importance to design when choosing a new phone. Maybe that's why I know a lot of people who carry their smartphone without any cover, so that they can really enjoy its beauty and not hide it unnecessarily in a case. Similarly, many people put up with nice-looking accessories that they buy for their phone. If you are among similar users, then today's review is perfect for you. We received a power bank in the editorial office Maxco Razor, which will certainly not offend you with its design. Quite the contrary, because it basically looks like a phone. In addition, it boasts a relatively decent capacity, double-sided USB and fast charging. Let's take a look at her.

Packing

No big surprises await us in the package. In addition to the powerbank, there is an English manual hidden here, where you can also read about all the specifications of the external battery, and finally a 50cm cable with classic USB and micro-USB connectors for charging the powerbank. I appreciate that the cable is covered with fabric, so it is more durable than the classic cables supplied by other manufacturers for similar accessories.

Design

But now let's go to the less interesting part, which is clearly the power bank itself. It boasts decent dimensions of 127 x 66 x 11 mm. The power bank can only brag about its weight, as it weighs only 150 g, making it 25% lighter than comparable external batteries. Considering the capacity of 8000 mAh, this is a respectable weight.

By design Maxco Razor she clearly succeeded. The rubber finish is pleasant to the touch and the metal-effect frame is reminiscent of the side edges of some of today's smartphones. Even the power button is located in approximately the same place as on most phones, i.e. when holding the power bank in the right hand, it is located in the place of the thumb. The left and bottom sides are empty, but the top edge is fitted with one micro-USB connector for charging the power bank, then one double-sided USB connector, and finally four LEDs to indicate the remaining capacity of the internal battery, each diode representing 25%.

Charging

During testing, I understandably paid most attention to charging, whether the device or the power bank itself. As I mentioned in the paragraphs above, Maxco Razor it has a battery with a capacity of 8000 mAh. So new in fact Galaxy The S8 (with a 3mAh battery) was able to charge 000 times, with me charging the phone once from 2% and the second time from full discharge when it turned off (so from 3%) and of course to 0%. During the second charging, the "ace-eight" from the power bank was charged to 100%. After that, it was necessary to recharge the external battery.

So the verdict is that the Maxco Razor can charge a better Samsung phone 2x, but of course it depends on the model you own, because for example Galaxy The A3 (2017) only has a 2350mAh battery, while last year's Galaxy The S7 edge has a battery with a capacity of 3600 mAh. However, most of Samsung's most popular phones have a 3000mAh battery (Galaxy S8, Galaxy S7, Galaxy A5 (2017) or Galaxy S6 edge+), so you can get a fairly accurate picture of how many times the power bank charges your phone.

The relatively fast charging of the device from the power bank is also worth mentioning. The USB port boasts an output current of 2,1 A at a voltage of 5 V, which is not the same as if you used an original Samsung adapter with Adaptive Fast Charging support (although the values are the same, but the mentioned support is crucial), but also nevertheless, charging is significantly faster than from a standard 5W charger. In my first test, when I didn't use the phone at all, flight mode was activated and features like Always On Display, NFC, and GPS were turned off. Galaxy It charged the S8 from 3% to full in 1 hour and 55 minutes. In the second test, when the phone was completely off and charging from 0%, it charged to the already mentioned 97% in 1 hour and 45 minutes.

I also tested charging the power bank. The micro-USB port through which the battery is recharged also boasts an input current of 2 amps, so it recharges significantly faster. To recharge the power bank, it is ideal to use a more powerful charger with an output voltage of 2 A at a voltage of 9 V, i.e. basically any adapter from Samsung that supports fast adaptive charging. Through here Maxco Razor recharged in exactly 5 hours and 55 minutes. It charged to just over 50% in 3 hours. If you do not own a powerful charger, then you will get about 7 hours. Either way, I recommend charging the powerbank overnight, as you will be XNUMX% sure that it will be charged to maximum capacity in the morning.

Summary

I don't have much to complain about the reviewed product. Perhaps a slightly lower price would suit him. On the other hand, behind it you get a really well-designed power bank with fast charging, a quality battery, surge protectors and a double-sided USB port, into which you can easily insert any standard charging cable from either side. So, if you put up with well-designed accessories, at the same time you are looking for an external battery with a decent capacity considering the weight, and you still want to use the fast charging that your phone supports, then the Maxco Razor power bank is perfect for you.
