Netflix decided to take an interesting step. The biggest movie and TV series streaming service in the world has started blocking rooted devices since its latest, fifth version, which arrived on the Google Play Store on Friday. The only comforting news is that if you already have Netflix installed on your rooted phone, it will work without any problems (at least for now).

In the update notes, Netflix states that "Version 5.0 only works on devices that are certified by Google and meet all Android system requirements." This statement sounds a bit mysterious, but what it's really telling us is that if you have an uncertified or rooted phone Androidem, then the new version of Netflix is not available for you.

After the arrival of Netflix 5.0, a number of users began to complain that the application was shown as incompatible with their phones in Google Play. Although many thought it was just a temporary glitch, an official statement from Netflix confirmed what was really behind the problem.

“With our latest version 5.0, we now fully rely on Widevine DRM provided by Google. Therefore, devices that are not certified by Google or have been modified in some way will not be newly supported by our application. Owners of such devices will soon not even see the Netflix app in the Google Play Store"

But while access to Netflix in Google Play is now for everyone rooted and unlocked Android furnished blocked, the app still works for those who installed it on their modified device before version 5.0.4 saw the light of day on Friday. But if you own a blocked device and want to start using Netflix, just download the .apk file of the latest version directly from here.
