Shortly after the start of sales Galaxy S8 experts looked into its guts and found, for example, such interest, that the new product has essentially the same battery as the infamous one Galaxy Note 7. Later we also brought you article, how much the individual components and production of the phone cost and that it is actually the most expensive smartphone ever. Now Samsung comes with an official look at the insides of its "es-eight".

Samsung Galaxy-S8 teardown

Samsung described only the most basic components or possibly those that have undergone some change, for example relocation. First of all, the South Koreans boast a premium HDR AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18,5:9, which occupies 80% of the front panel. The display is covered with durable Gorilla® Glass 5, which is 1,8 times stronger than its predecessor Gorilla® Glass 4.

We also learn that the bottom frame serves, which at first glance is useless for the user, hides the DDI (Display Driver IC), i.e. the control unit for the display, which has moved from the top of the phone to the bottom in order for Samsung to achieve a truly minimal bezel . DDI takes care of image compression using several algorithms to reduce display consumption while maintaining maximum image quality.

Disassembly and analysis of components Galaxy S8 by iFixit:

For the first time, a sensor recording the force of pressing the display was added to Samsung's flagship model. It is located right next to the display control unit and provides a new home button that is pressure-sensitive and can, for example, wake up the device or unlock the device.

In the upper frame of the display, there is a new 8-megapixel camera, which, in addition to taking photos and videos, also takes care of the new facial recognition authentication function, which can be used to unlock the phone. To the right of the camera is an iris reader that uses mathematical pattern recognition of an individual's iris images to increase security. In the frame, on the left side of the speaker for calls, there are also proximity sensors, a notification LED and one more LED (emitter) for scanning the iris reader.

Samsung further describes the components that are located directly in the guts of the phone. It is worth noting that the new fingerprint sensor already responds only to touch and there is no need to press any button, as was the case with last year's model. Similarly, Samsung boasted a new battery protection, which is a newly inserted rubber barrier that protects the battery from shocks and damage in the event of a fall
