Some sparrows on the roof are whispering about the fact that Samsung is probably the best in the world in the production of OLED displays, which are so much in demand today. However, they are not the only ones who think so, even the biggest technology companies in the world are very well aware of this fact. They then come begging and ask their rival in the fight for supremacy in the smartphone market to also make their displays for their products. After all, an exact example of this situation can be the current production of Apple's new flagship, the iPhone 8. It should be largely equipped with displays from factories in South Korea. Now Xiaomi has rushed in with a similar request.

According to a source obtained by the website Sammobile, Xiaomi signed an agreement with Samsung to supply the display for its new flagship, which it plans to introduce in 2018. Samsung will reportedly supply Xiaomi with the first 6,1" OLED displays as early as December this year. The first batch should number about a million panels, the next more than twice that. However, it's hard to say how many Xiaomi will actually order in the end. It mainly depends on how much they trust their phone.

LG missed a big chance

However, Samsung was reportedly not the first choice when choosing a supplier company. The management of Xiaomi first pointed to the company LG, from which they wanted to produce 5,49" OLED panels. The deal ultimately fell through due to unexplained manufacturing issues that would cause production delays. In the end, Xiaomi modified its smartphone just as easily, so it is possible that it would have no other option than to cooperate with Samsung anyway.

None of the companies have yet confirmed this agreement, but this is a fairly common practice in these circles. The supply chain tends to be rather private because, among other things, companies don't like to brag about having their phone assembled from various components made in a rival's factories. However, in the case of OLED displays from Samsung, these steps are not entirely appropriate. Xiaomi should rather be praised for using the tried-and-tested OLED display from Samsung, which is used by many manufacturers. It provides your phone with a truly unbeatable screen.
