A court in South Korea today found I Chae-jong, the vice chairman and de facto head of the largest company in South Korea, guilty. Jae-Yong was also sentenced to five years in prison for a number of crimes, including bribery and embezzlement. This court case is also dubbed as the "Trial of the Century".

Also on trial is South Korean President Pak, who was supposed to have been bribed by Jae-jong to help him gain control of the conglomerate. The heir to one of the largest corporate empires in the world was detained in February. Despite the imprisonment of I Chae-jong, Samsung continues to flourish.

Last month, for example, it overtook the company Apple and became the most profitable technology company in the world. There are also doubts as to whether the group should continue to function as a family dynasty. Jae-Yong also became the head of the company in 2014, when his father suffered a heart attack.

Che-Jong also denies guilt and has appealed the verdict.
