Today at IFA 2017 in Berlin, Samsung unveiled its latest addition to the smartwatch category – the Gear Sport. As their name already suggests, the watches are primarily aimed at the sporting activity of their owners, to which both design and function are adapted. They thus become a kind of improvement of last year's Gear S3 Frontier.
The watch is armed with a round Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels, which is protected by durable Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a dual-core processor with a clock speed of 1.0GHz, a RAM of 768 MB, 4GB of data storage, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi b/ g/n, NFC, GPS module, 300mAh battery, wireless charging and, of course, a heart rate sensor that constantly measures you and shows values in real time.

Gear Sport also boasts IP68 dust and water resistance, thanks to which the watch can withstand up to 50 meters of water. There is also the MIL_STD-810G military standard, which makes the watch resistant to thermal shocks. The accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer and ambient light sensor are definitely worth mentioning.
The watch is mainly aimed at swimmers, not only with its high water resistance, but also with the Speedo On application, which allows you to monitor the most important metrics, such as the time of one swimming pool, swimming style, etc.
The watch also offers premium access to a number of Under Armor apps, such as UA Record, MyFitnessPal, MapMyRun and Endomondo. There are also new applications such as Spotify. A big advantage is the automatic recognition of the activity, i.e. whether you are currently walking, running, cycling, swimming or performing another activity.

The watch also comes with full compatibility with Samsung's smart home IoT, which means you can use it to control your fridge, washing machine and other white electronics from the South Korean giant. There is also support for contactless payments through Samsung Pay.

The Samsung Gear Sport will be available in black and blue, with the customer being able to easily adjust the size of the 20mm strap. The price stopped at 349,99 € (approx. 9 CZK) and will go on sale in Europe 27th of October.
