South Korea's Samsung announced today that it has started manufacturing eUFS storage, which will be used in the on-board computers of new cars in the coming years. However, Samsung has only started producing the 128GB and 64GB versions.

Samsung's new eUFS is designed for advanced driver assistance systems, next-generation dashboards and information systems that provide a range of useful information to both drivers and passengers.

Great reading speed

UFS memory technology was first used in mobile phones. However, because it has proven itself to be excellent, it has started to be used in a wide range of products. Its main strength is its excellent reading speed. For example, a 128GB eUFS phone has a read speed of up to 850 MB/s, roughly 4,5 times today's standard.

Do you think that with such a speed there must also be a large excess of heat that can damage the memory? Don't worry, Samsung is thinking about this too. He implemented a temperature sensor in the chip regulator, which will prevent any deviations threatening the life of the chip.

Samsung believes in greater security

"We are taking a big step towards the introduction of next-generation ADAS by offering the new eUFS chips much earlier than the world expected," said Jinman Han, vice president of memory engineering at Samsung. It is therefore clear that he also cares about the safety of car transport and, in addition to making money, he also sees a much deeper potential in the development of memory chips, which can save thousands of lives. Hopefully, with the help of Samsung, it will be successful and the roads will be a little safer again.
