Do you like the design of the Gear S3 or Gear Sport smartwatches, but are discouraged by their relatively low battery life? Does not matter. Samsung is slowly releasing a major update for its watches, which in certain cases will greatly extend their battery life.

The new Tizen 3.0 operating system brings with it many interesting things along with the updates. One of them is the new "Watch Only" mode, which will make your smartwatch look a bit silly. When you choose this mode, you turn off all smart functions and the watch really only works as a time indicator. This, of course, is extremely sparing of battery consumption and drains it very slowly. In some cases, you can even go over forty days without a charge, which is truly unique for watches of this type.

Significant limitations

If you like this mode, wait a little longer. Since you limit 99% of all smart functions, you have to expect certain compromises when using them. For example, if you want to check the time, you have to unlock the watch using its side buttons. Of course, you don't even get notifications or similar things that you're used to using them instead of pulling out your phone. So, if you use the watch largely to avoid having to constantly take your phone out of your pocket and unlock its display (which, of course, consumes the battery every time you turn it on), you will definitely not understand the new mode.

In any case, this news is really interesting and some users of smart watches from Samsung will certainly use it. Hopefully, in the future, we will see a similar endurance even during classic use with notifications, heart rate measurement or GPS connection.
