A shift in the field of display technology can be seen every day, especially with companies such as Samsung and LG. According to the latest patent application, it looks like Samsung has finally managed to fit a fingerprint reader into the display. The display itself should then be scrollable.

According to the filed patent, the body in which the display is rolled up can be cuboidal or cylindrical in shape and will be made of metal. The display is then attached to the body using magnets, but it can only be removed after verification with a fingerprint. Unlike LG, which uses rotary motors in its prototypes, Samsung brings something completely new and innovative.

For now, however, it is not certain whether a similar gadget will find its way into classic smartphones or will serve a completely different purpose. It is quite possible that we will see the first such prototypes in just a few days at the CES 2018 fair, which will be held between January 9 and 12, and where Samsung will certainly not be missing with its stand.
