In recent months, many smartphone manufacturers, in addition to increasing the performance of phones, improving the camera or extending its battery life, have also tried to minimize the frames around the display, thereby increasing the touch panel of the smartphone by a few percent. So far, however, almost everyone has encountered one major problem – the sensors and the speaker at the top of the display. This particular place is practically impossible to reduce in any way, and while we can easily imagine a smartphone without a physical home button at the bottom of the display, we certainly wouldn't be able to bite the missing sensors from the top of the display so easily. However, it looks like Samsung is trying to find a satisfactory solution for this problem.

On the portal LetsGoDigital an interesting patent appeared, which Samsung recently registered. The whole idea of this news is that the South Koreans would simply insert all the necessary sensors into the OLED display, thereby significantly increasing its area. This way, there would be no unsightly cutouts, which we can see, for example, in the competing iPhone X. The only flaw in the beauty of this phone would be only a few round black spots with one oblong speaker, which would "flow around" the display.

Similarly, Samsung could solve the home button at the bottom of the display. If he wanted to preserve it, there probably wouldn't be a problem with embedding it either. However, since its latest models only received a software button, it is quite likely that we would find it in this model as well.

Although this patent looks really interesting, it is hard to say at the moment whether we will actually see it. Technology companies file many similar patents every year, of which only a handful see the light of day. In any case, a smartphone display designed in this way would be extremely interesting and would come significantly closer to the complete ideal – a display across the entire front of the phone without any distracting elements.
