Samsung today introduced the 860 PRO and 860 EVO SSDs, the latest additions to its SATA drive product line. The models are intended for consumers requiring fast and reliable performance in various types of deployment, from normal use on a personal computer to demanding applications for processing graphics-intensive operations.
The newly introduced models follow on from their successful predecessors, the 850 PRO and 850 EVO, which were the first solid state drives intended for general consumers using V-NAND technology. The new 860 PRO and 860 EVO models offer top performance in the segment of SSD drives with SATA interface and provide higher speed, reliability, compatibility and storage space.
“The newly launched 860 PRO and 860 EVO SSDs feature the latest 512GB and 256GB memory chips built on 64-layer V-NAND technology, 4GB LPDDR4 DRAM mobile memory chips and the new MJX controller. It is precisely to these needs that the 860 PRO and 860 EVO models from Samsung respond, supporting read speeds of up to 560 MB/s and write speeds of up to 530 MB/s, offering uncompromising reliability and an extended five-year limited warranty, respectively. lifetime of up to 4 TBW (terabytes written) for the 800 PRO and up to 860 TBW for the 2 EVO. The new MJX controller provides faster communication with the host system. The controller chip is powerful enough to handle storage devices in workstations and also offers better compatibility with the Linux operating system.
The 860 PRO is available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities, with the 4TB drive holding up to 114 hours and 30 minutes of 4K Ultra HD video. The 860 PRO is available in a universal 2,5-inch drive format that is ideal for PCs, laptops, desktops and NAS.
The 860 EVO is available in 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities, in a 2,5-inch format for use in PCs and laptops, as well as mSATA and M.2 formats for ultra-thin computing devices. Thanks to advanced Intelligent TurboWrite technology with read and write speeds of up to 550 MB/s, or At 520 MB/s, the 860 EVO offers up to six times longer lifespan than its predecessors without performance degradation.

SSD disks will be available in the Czech Republic from the beginning of February. The recommended retail price for the 860 PRO will be CZK 4 for the 190GB version, CZK 250 for the 7GB version, CZK 390 for the 521TB version and CZK 13 for the 990TB version.
The recommended retail price for the 860 EVO drives will be CZK 2 for the 790GB version, CZK 250 for the 4GB version, CZK 890 for the 500TB version, CZK 9 for the 590TB version and CZK 1 for the 18TB version.
