Samsung recently introduced an interesting application SeeColors for its QLED TV, which helps people suffering from color blindness to determine the degree of their color vision impairment. Based on the results of the diagnosis, the QLED TV, which displays 100% color volume, adjusts the color settings on the screen so that viewers with color vision impairment can fully enjoy the correct colors.

Worldwide, nearly 300 million people suffer from color vision impairment, which is about 8% of men and up to 1% of women, according to the results of a representative survey conducted in Europe and North America. However, most people are unaware of their disorder and its impact on quality of life.

Users can use the SeeColors app on their TV to find out what type of color vision disorder they suffer from and to what degree, and adjust their QLED TV screen based on the results of the diagnosis.

Samsung teamed up with Professor Klara Wenzel, who heads the Department of Mechatronics, Optics and Engineering Informatics at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, to take over her Colorlite test, or C-test, for TVs and mobile devices to offer people an easy and an accurate way to diagnose color blindness. The C-test developed by Professor Wenzel is a digital diagnostic test that uses the concept of color filters and mathematical modeling to diagnose the degree of color blindness. The result of using C-test for SeeColors is a simple solution that gives everyone the ability to see the world in full color.

The SeeColors app is available for download from the Smart TV App Store. Users can download the app for diagnosis via Google Play stores and Galaxy App Store also for Samsung smartphones Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, S7, S7 edge and S8. Once the user connects their smartphone Galaxy to QLED TV, the TV automatically adjusts the color settings based on the user's diagnosis.

The SeeColors app is the first time Colorlite technology has been used in TVs and smartphones.
