It hasn't been a secret for a long time that Samsung is working on a foldable phone, which is currently being referred to as Galaxy X. A few days ago we you informed, that Samsung's mobile division CEO DJ Koh confirmed at WMC 2018 that the South Korean giant is indeed working on a foldable smartphone. However, he did not reveal when the device we are all eagerly waiting for will see the light of day.

For now, we have no idea how it will be Galaxy X look, although various concepts have already appeared. However, patents are the best source from which we can get an idea of the mysterious device. Although it is not certain that the phone will have the final form depicted in the patents, they help us to get a glimpse into the company's thoughts. Samsung has already received several different foldable phone patents, and now it's adding another one to its collection. Unfortunately, even the latest ones do not reveal technology, specifications or materials and again only concern the design.

Perhaps the most interesting patent of the new trio is a foldable smartphone similar to the recently introduced ZTE Axon M. While the ZTE Axon M uses two separate displays for a foldable design, Samsung's patent suggests that Galaxy The X will be one big foldable display. The second patent depicts a smartphone without physical buttons and ports. While it would look really cool, the question remains whether it would be practical. The latest patent that Samsung received is more about wearable electronics, which would basically be a display that could be put on your wrist. This would be a device bordering on a smartphone and a smartwatch. You can view all three mentioned patents in the gallery above.
