This year's Samsung flagship models offer many novelties, but the most interesting ones clearly took place in the field of the camera. Larger Galaxy The S9+ got not only a pair of lenses, but also a variable aperture and, above all, the ability to record super slow motion videos at 960 fps. We especially focused on the aforementioned super slow-motion videos when testing the phone and decided to present the function to you separately, including several samples.

Samsung Galaxy The S9+ has become the second smartphone in the world to be able to record slow-motion videos at 960 frames per second. The first manufacturer was competitor Sony and its Xperia XZ Premium model, which was introduced to the world at the beginning of last year. The problem is that both smartphones are only able to capture such slow-motion images in HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, which significantly affects the resulting video quality.

Taking a slow motion shot itself is on Galaxy S9+ quite simple. Just switch the camera to Super slow mode in the app. Suddenly, a square appears in the interface, in which you have to place a part of the scene where the movement will take place. The phone then automatically detects movement in the square after starting the recording and slows down the video. However, the system does not always slow down the movement correctly - it depends on the scene, style of movement and focus.

Videos can be edited directly on the smartphone - add music, trim or disable slow motion. Unfortunately, it is not possible to edit the range of the slow motion, which I perceive as a big shortcoming. In some cases, the phone slows down the footage too soon and thus speeds up the video again earlier (an example is a video with a lighter). If the range of slow motion could be adjusted, even more interesting footage could be created.

While the super slow motion feature is really interesting, I dare say that you will only use it sporadically in practice. You almost always have to prepare the scene for the shot in advance, and above all, you need to know exactly where the movement will take place so that you can place that part of the scene in a square. So there is only a real minimum of cases where you spontaneously pull your phone out of your pocket, flash the camera and suddenly start filming. Most likely, you will not succeed in such a shot. On the contrary, when preparing in advance, very interesting videos can be created.
