Apple and Samsung have finally buried the hatchet. The long-running patent dispute, which brought the two companies to court several times, was finally ended by an out-of-court settlement.

Californian Apple sued Samsung in 2011, accusing it of copying the iPhone's design. In August 2012, a jury ordered Samsung to pay Apple $1,05 billion in damages. Over the years, the amount has been reduced several times. However, Samsung appealed each time, as according to it, the damages should be calculated from the individual copied elements, such as the front cover and the display, and not from the total profit from the sale of smartphones that violate the patent.

Apple demanded $1 billion from Samsung, while Samsung was only willing to pay $28 million. However, a jury last month ruled that Samsung should pay Apple $538,6 million. The patent war and court battles seemed destined to continue, but eventually Apple and Samsung settled the patent dispute. However, none of the companies wanted to comment on the terms of the agreement.
