Samsung was originally speculated to integrate an in-display fingerprint reader on the upcoming phablet Galaxy Note9. Later, however, the speculation was refuted with the fact that the South Korean giant will come with a competitive advantage only next year at Galaxy S10. However, HMD Global is not idle and plans to introduce an in-display fingerprint reader for the upcoming Nokia 9 flagship.

HMD Global is working on a flagship that will most likely be called the Nokia 9 and is preparing some interesting features. The device should look similar to the Nokia 8 Sirocco, which was presented at MWC 2018.

The Nokia 9 is expected to have Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845. It should also bring an OLED display, a triple camera and a fingerprint reader in the display. Initially, the manufacturer reportedly had problems with the reliability of the sensor, but it seems that they overcame the difficulties by using thinner glass.

According to information, HMD Global started working on the smartphone in February, while it should be presented at this year's IFA 2018.
