It has been quite a long time since our mobile phones were resistant to various damages, including falls or various impacts. Of course, these phones cannot be compared to what we can hold in our hands now. In the course of time, the shapeless little bricks that had a titular display, a piercing ringtone and a weekly battery life became narrow flats with a display across the entire front side, which, in addition to calling and "messaging", enable us to do a whole range of other things, including browsing the Internet, navigating in cars or watching movies. But all this at the expense of durability, which cannot now be compared with the mobile phones of the previous generation. But this could theoretically be over soon.
A few days ago, Samsung boasted a very interesting novelty that could mean a decent revolution. He managed to develop an OLED panel so durable that it passed the tests of Underwriters Laboratories, which, among other things, tests the durability of various products within the framework of the American Safety and Health Administration, with flying colors, and can thus boast an "unbreakable" certificate.
And what actually made the new OLED panel so interesting? Above all, despite a series of falls from different heights from 1,2 to 1,8 meters, practically nothing happened to the display and it still worked. And just for the sake of interest: it fell to the hard ground 1,2 times from only 26 meters, which most smartphones with current types of displays would not be able to breathe in any case. The main reason for the unbreakability is the new production process, which aims to eliminate all possible problems with the display in the event of a fall. Despite the slightly different manufacturing process, the panel is extremely light and hard.
Thanks to this innovation, we could expect almost indestructible smartphones or tablets in the future, which, unlike current models, would survive most falls to the ground without problems. However, it is difficult to say whether Samsung or other manufacturers will be significantly involved in the implementation of this news. Many of us, when the display breaks, think about whether it is even important to replace it, or whether it is better to invest in a new product. However, thanks to "unbreakable" displays, this dilemma could disappear and thus, theoretically, the sales of new products could also decrease.
