Samsung is a phenomenon in the smartphone market. Thanks to his wide portfolio, he has reigned supreme for many years, and according to new statistics, which include sales from the last quarter, it looks like no one will be breathing down his back for a few more Fridays. His reign is still very strong, and the order in the list of manufacturers is shuffled as much as possible below him. So how is Samsung doing now?

Although analyst firms differ slightly on the numbers, they at least agree that Samsung's share of the smartphone market is more than 20% and is approaching 21%. In the second quarter of this year, it managed to sell 71,5 million smartphones, which is 15 million more than its main rival. But that doesn't make him a Cupertino Apple, but the Chinese Huawei. It managed to sell around 13 million more smartphones in the last quarter. But this could be a warning for Samsung in the future. While its market share fell by 2% year-on-year, Huawei shot up by 5% year-on-year. If the Chinese manufacturer could continue to maintain this growth rate, it is quite realistic that it would overtake Samsung in a few years.

A price you can't beat

Huawei's main weapon is its very solidly equipped models, which it is able to sell at a low price. Although Samsung is also trying to do the same, it cannot compete with the Chinese manufacturer. However, he plans to produce models that should at least partially repel his attack. But whether he will be able to do it completely remains to be seen.

So we will see how the situation on the smartphone market develops in the coming years. The fact is that even a single successful model, which drives the whole world crazy, can significantly stir it up. This could be the revolutionary foldable smartphone from Samsung, which has been in the works for a long time, or will be presented in a few days Galaxy Note9. However, Huawei will certainly have its aces up its sleeve and it is possible that it will be able to pull them out and beat Samsung with them. But only time will tell.
