Google Assistant is on many devices with Androidem the only voice assistant, that is, except for some smartphones from Samsung. A South Korean company has developed its own smart assistant called Bixby. This can be found on flagships such as Galaxy Note9. Samsung has no reason to ditch Bixby in favor of Google Assistant, but that doesn't rule out working with Google on artificial intelligence.

At a press conference at Berlin's IFA 2018, Samsung said the company could use its leading position in the smartphone market to negotiate a partnership with Google on artificial intelligence (AI). In this way, the technology giants would cooperate and jointly improve services using AI. Among the mentioned services is the mentioned Bixby.

"Samsung is developing its own voice assistant - Bixby - but we could consider various forms of cooperation with Google in that area," said Samsung Consumer Electronics President and CEO Kim Hyun-suk. According to him, Bixby could thus guide users to Google platforms, for example to Google Maps.

Questions were raised at the press conference about whether Samsung will use Google Assistant in its smart home appliances, as other smart appliance manufacturers do. "Samsung is a company that sells around 500 million devices worldwide every year, which we can use as a strong point in negotiating cooperation with AI leaders like Google," stated Hyun-suk.
