It is hard to believe that Samsung could be successful in the field of smart speakers with its Bixby assistant, which has not received very positive reviews recently, but the South Korean company plans to introduce a new product in this category that could change a lot.

At the beginning of August 2018, Samsung aside from all the buzz surrounding the new Note 9 and Galaxy Watch also introduced its first smart speaker Galaxy Home. It is supposed to be a direct competitor for the Californian giant Apple, which also introduced its first smart speaker, the HomePod, in February 2018.

Although Galaxy Home has not yet started selling, Samsung is already working on a second, smaller version, which should offer a significantly lower price. The smaller version is expected to offer fewer microphones than its more premium sibling, but retain essential features. Both products will be powered by the Bixby voice assistant, which will handle the same instructions you're used to from yours Galaxy device.

However, it is already clear that Samsung will have a hard time with the competition, which is currently ruled by Google Home and Amazon Echo. If Samsung deploys quality audio output and a reasonable price tag, it could at least bite into some share of the smart speaker market.
