Samsung is not only working hard to launch phones Galaxy S10 to Galaxy F, but apparently also deals with a new kind of displays. According to the latest information, the South Korean technology giant has applied for a new patent related to 3D displays.

It should be a completely new type of display that will be able to display various content such as photos, videos and even games in 3D. The illustrations attached to the application also show the possibility to mirror the smartphone screen. The patent suggests that through a device that will be equipped with the mentioned type of display, we will also be able to scan objects using an integrated camera and display them in 3D. The device will not only display objects, but will recognize objects, determine their color and shape. In addition, we could read more information about the scanned object on the display, such as the price or where to buy the item.

In addition to the content, the user interface will also be three-dimensional, which users could control with gestures without having to touch the display. The device with these displays should have built-in specific sensors. For example, if someone calls you, you will see the person on the display and you can use gestures to control, for example, music, whose interface will be on the display at the same time. However, the application at the patent office does not mention whether the panels will be for tablets, monitors or televisions. Samsung itself did not respond to questions about the patent.

It is not entirely clear why Samsung is again going the way of 3D displays after the failure in this area in 2010, but perhaps the South Korean company is preparing a truly revolutionary novelty for us. In November last year, Samsung applied for a patent related to holographic technology. It is therefore possible that we will see one device where both new products will be used.

This is how the patented device could look like in practice (source: Let's Go Digital):
