The first speculations that Samsung could introduce a 2019K OLED display for laptops at CES 4 appeared at the end of last year. However, the South Korean company did not announce this news in Las Vegas. However, the wait is now over. Samsung has announced that it has succeeded in creating the world's first 15,6″ UHD OLED display for laptops.

The South Korean tech giant is not on the field OLED displays is definitely not a newbie. Samsung has covered the OLED display market for mobile devices and is now expanding into the notebook market. Samsung has a total of nine display factories worldwide and is a specialist in this field.

OLED technology brings several advantages over LCD panels and will thus fit perfectly into premium devices. However, the price of the display is also premium, which may be the main reason why no other manufacturer has yet ventured into panels of this size.

But let's get to the advantages of OLED technology. Display brightness can go down to 0,0005 nits or go up to 600 nits. And together with the 12000000:1 contrast, black is up to 200 times darker and white is 200% brighter than with LCD panels. The OLED panel can display up to 34 million colors, which is twice as many as the LCD display. According to Samsung, its new display meets the new VESA DisplayHDR standard. This means that the black is up to 100 times deeper than the current HDR standard.

Samsung has not yet announced which manufacturer will be the first to use its 15,6″ 4K OLED display, but we can expect it to be companies like Dell or Lenovo. According to the South Korean giant, the production of these panels will start in mid-February, so it will be some time before we see them in the final products.
