Samsung has reportedly acquired Israeli company Corephotonics, which specializes in dual cameras for mobile devices, for $155 million. Corephotonics worked with a Chinese phone manufacturer Oppo on periscope technology for its device's cameras, which enables five times optical zoom. However, this solution is intended for triple cameras and thus it is possible to achieve up to an incredible 25-fold zoom. However, the Israeli company itself does not manufacture cameras, it only designs them.

Bringing the telephoto lens to smartphones marked a huge innovation in mobile phone photography. However, mobile device manufacturers are constantly racing to launch a thinner smartphone. Samsung gradually implemented the optical zoom function in its devices to make them more competitive. And because the South Korean company wants to keep up, it has now bought an Israeli company that specializes in Zoom.

Founded in 2012, Corephotonics focuses on the development of dual camera technology. The company, in turn, has years of research on the topic of zoom and has more than 150 patents in its arsenal related to this technology. To date, this company has managed to raise a total of 50 million dollars for its research. However, it must be said that Samsung was the main investor. So it's really no surprise that Samsung is now buying the entire company and may soon start adding these advanced technologies to its phones. However, the Israeli company itself neither confirmed nor denied this fact.
