Press Release: SOCIETY Western Digital Corp. (NASDAQ: WDC), a leader in data infrastructure management, is accelerating the transition to NVMe for high-end desktop storage, adding a new NVMe™ model to its portfolio of award-winning WD Blue SSDs®. New disc WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSD provides three times the performance of previous SATA models[1]and at the same time maintains the high reliability achieved with the WD Blue product line. The new WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSD is optimized for multitasking and demanding applications, and provides near-instant access to files and computer programs, which is especially appreciated by computer enthusiasts and anyone who creates digital content.

The new WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSD together with the highly acclaimed WD Black SSD®The SN750 NVMe enhances the scalability of PC SSD architecture. It is built on Western Digital's own 3D NAND technology, its own firmware and the company's driver and provides sequential read and write speeds of up to 1 MB/s and 700 MB/s (for the 1 GB model). The new drives also have low consumption, only 450 W.

Demands for new storage keep growing as workloads grow. The new WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSDs ensure, among other things, stable and sustainable write values compared to the SATA format and provide everything that developing technologies require to provide top performance.

“In the PC industry, we are experiencing a transition from SATA to NVMe, and customers expect computers to become even faster, with minimal system latency,”says Don Jeanette, for TrendFocus, adding: "Even in the segment of regular computers, we observe that their users are creating more and more digital content, such as video processing in 4K or 8K resolution. Moreover, they share this content further. In general, they also process an ever-increasing volume of data on their computers. The new, faster WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSD storage will simply allow faster loading of large files.”

"The transition from 4K to 8K resolution represents a good opportunity for everyone who works with photo and video files, who creates digital content and for computer enthusiasts, to switch from SATA to NVMe format,"adds Eyal Bek, vice president of marketing, data center and client solutions at Western Digital, adding: “The WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSD will allow customers to build a high-performance PC or notebook with high speeds and sufficient capacity using a reliable, durable drive in an ultra-thin form factor.”
