Until relatively recently, the idea of 5G networks sounded like the music of the distant future, but now the arrival of this technology is almost within reach, and both operators and individual manufacturers are preparing for it. Samsung has recently begun mass production of 5G modems and chipsets, looking to increase its influence in the mobile ecosystem.

Samsung is not only the world's largest mobile phone manufacturer, but also a major supplier of components to its own competitors, including Apple. The arrival of devices compatible with 5G networks is a significant opportunity for Samsung, and analysts predict enormous demand for the relevant components.

Three 5G products are currently headed for production – the Samsung Exynos 5100 modem will allow smartphones to connect to virtually any mobile standard, while the Exynos RF 5500 model features support for both legacy and new networks in a single chip, giving vendors more flexibility in smartphone design . The third product is called the Exynos SM 5500 and is used to improve the battery life of 5G smartphones, which will have to deal with richer content and higher transfer speeds.

Recently, there was a news in the media that even the company Apple is making efforts to produce 5G iPhones. However, there were problems with Intel, which was supposed to supply the relevant modems to Apple. So it is likely that Intel will be replaced by Samsung in this regard.
