Press Release: Viber, one of the leading communication apps in the world, conducted a survey among its users to find out what is important to them in digital communication. It took place within the official framework Viber Czech Republic community, which has more than 92 thousand users. The responses of more than 2 respondents showed two clear trends. For users in the Czech Republic, as in other countries that took part in the survey, the protection of privacy and the security of their data when using communication applications, social media and the Internet in general is increasingly important. This was confirmed by 200% of respondents. The survey also showed that texting is the main method of communication for 56% of respondents, which is in line with the global trend of favoring written communication over verbal communication. The results are part of a regional survey that Viber organized in eight countries of Central and Eastern Europe and in which over 68 users of the application participated. The results at the regional level confirmed a similar trend in relation to the protection of user data privacy and security, where 100% of all survey participants consider it the most important element. Texting has become the most popular form of communication in all countries, which include, in addition to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Greece, Slovenia and Serbia.
Currently, communication applications are one of the fastest growing areas of communication. Security and privacy of user data are pro Viber a key element, and Viber CEO Djamel Agaoua emphasized this again after the case of the Whatsapp security breach emerged. Viber has encryption set for all conversations and calls by default on both ends of the communication, so users can be sure that their private conversations are always protected. In addition to the protection of security and privacy, the fact that the application offers many options to make chats more dynamic, fun and personal is also important for Czech users of the Viber application. They also appreciate practical features like the ability to delete, edit or translate their conversations. Continuous improvement of the application is another top priority for Viber, in addition to the protection and security of user data.
As already mentioned, 68% of survey respondents identified texting as their main method of communication. 21% of them like stickers the most, because according to them they can best capture emotions and feelings. This was also confirmed by participants in other countries. Viber often localizes the stickers, making them relevant to how people in that country communicate with each other.
