At the end of this year, the gradual shutdown of multiplexes broadcasting the TV signal in the current DVB-T standard will begin and the subsequent transition to broadcasting in the new standard: Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial 2, abbreviated DVB-T2. According to a recent survey by Nielsen Atmosphere for the Ministry of Industry and Trade, over 83% of Czech viewers understand the change, and over 40% of them are already able to receive a signal in the DVB-T2 standard. Among them are also owners of Samsung televisions.

DVB-T2 – a better image that takes up less space in the air

In the new standard of digital broadcasting, all Czech TV stations, Prima, Nova and Barrandov are available to most viewers in the Czech Republic. Of these named, only the programs of the public Czech Television are available in HD quality. Although it will probably take another year before everyone broadcasts in full HD, the change compared to the current quality of the television image is already visible at first glance.

However, owners of Samsung QLED TVs will be able to enjoy an even better picture than the promised HD resolution today. New for 2019, it is equipped with a Quantum processor with artificial intelligence, which optimizes and enhances the quality of the playback recording in real time up to 8K (7680 × 4320) resolution.

Naturally, DVB-T2 also includes the transmission of the HbbTV hybrid interface, which is hidden under the red button. In the Czech Republic, it is currently being actively used by the already mentioned CT, TV Prima and Nova.

All TVs of the Samsung TV series from 2015 meet the DVB-T2 standard

In order for viewers to be sure that their television is capable of receiving a signal in the new DVB-T2 standard (or, on the contrary, to make sure that it really is not capable of receiving it before the hasty purchase of a new TV), České Radiokomunikace tests and then certifies all devices compatible with DVB-T2 mark DVB-T2 verified. Certification DVB-T2 verifiedit also meets all 322 Samsung models that have appeared on the Czech market since 2015.

Evolution Kit will help owners of older Samsung TVs

Viewers with older TVs have two or three options: First, they can purchase one of the newer and certified TVs, or connect a set-top box to their original TV. Only Samsung offers its customers the third option. They can receive the DVB-T2 signal on their old TV using the Evolution Kit. Although it is a similar solution to buying a set-top box, the Evolution Kit has two big advantages. It will offer viewers the increasingly popular HbbTV broadcast. The second indisputable advantage is the upgrade of the entire operating system to the level of 2019 news.

The customer thus gains access to the popular applications HBO GO, Netflix, Stream or many internet televisions. In addition, the entire TV will be controlled by the new Smart controller, which is included in the delivery.

Samsung allows its customers to upgrade even a 7-year-old TV to a Smart TV and raise it to a modern level of entertainment. More information about the new Evolution Kit is available here: https://www.samsung.com/cz/tv-accessories/evolution-kit-sek-4500/
