A newly discovered patent application filed by Samsung indicates that the company seems to have an as-yet-unpresented augmented reality headset in store. The publication of patents is done by none other than a popular server Galaxy Club. Its editors first noticed the patent application in February of this year. According to the description, it looks like the headset is equipped with two displays (one for each lens), while one of the drawings shows a cable running along the right side of the device. However, it is not clear from the description or the drawing whether this is a "wired" device, or whether the cable shown is intended for charging.

Samsung has been focusing on virtual reality for many years - in this direction, for example, the Gear VR series headsets came out of its workshop. Recently, however, according to some experts, the interest of ordinary consumers in virtual reality in connection with mobile phones is rather decreasing. We can also observe a downward trend in the production of Samsung, which refreshed its product line of VR headsets with a new piece for the last time in 2017. Samsung's newest flagship – the model Galaxy Note 10 – is also the first smartphone that is not compatible with this hardware.

On the other hand, augmented reality is quite popular, and many companies are trying to keep up with this trend. It would therefore be quite logical for Samsung to venture into these waters as well - and it would not be the only manufacturer in this direction. In connection with the development of the AR headset, the company is also being talked about, for example Apple, which according to some analysts could launch its AR device within the next year. However, it is characteristic of patent applications that they do not always come to fruition, so it is pointless to have any high hopes in this direction for the time being.
