One of the biggest charms of smart watches Galaxy Watch The Active 2, when they were introduced last August, was without a doubt the ECG measurement feature. Samsung then promised that this gadget would be available at the end of the first quarter of 2020 at the latest, but disappeared. But now there has been a breakthrough.

Samsung announced today that South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has approved ECG measurement on the watch Galaxy Watch Active 2. Users in South Korea will soon be able to measure and analyze their heart rhythm and track irregularities that may indicate atrial fibrillation.

Atrial fibrillation is most often a heart rhythm disorder (arrhythmia). Around 33,5 million people worldwide suffer from it, with around 5 million new cases occurring each year. This disease significantly increases the risk of heart failure, stroke and blood clots. Strokes alone affect 16 million people every year, so this is a feature that can really save lives.

EKG measurement on Galaxy Watch Active 2 works by analyzing the electrical activity of the heart using the ECG sensor on the watch. To take an ECG, just open the Samsung Health Monitor app, sit down, check that the watch is firmly on your wrist and place your forearm on a flat surface. After that, all that remains is to place the finger of the other hand on the top button of the watch and hold it for 30 seconds in peace and quiet. The measurement result is displayed directly on the display Galaxy Watch Active 2.

Informace We do not yet have information on when ECG measurement will be available in other countries, including the Czech Republic. Everything depends on how quickly Samsung manages to get the necessary approval from individual local authorities. In addition, the entire process can be slowed down by the ongoing pandemic of the disease COVID19. However, as soon as the function is available in the Czech Republic, we will inform you.
