Recently, there has been increasing speculation that Samsung is working on two flexible phones in the series Galaxy Fold. We should see Samsung in the third quarter of this year Galaxy Fold 2, i.e. a full-fledged successor to the flexible phone. Later, however, we should also see a cheaper variant that should contain a mix of components from phones released in 2018, 2019 and 2020. A new patent that the Korean company has now filed confirms these speculations.

There was speculation about the name earlier Galaxy Fold Lite. Of course, the name is missing directly from the patent. But everything indicates that it should be a cheaper flexible phone. For example, it lacks a secondary display and uses a small bar instead, which will probably be used to display notifications, time and other basic information. There are a total of three cameras on the back, which is currently standard. Similar to the first Galaxy Fold, even this cheaper version will have a large cutout in the upper left corner. It hides classic sensors as well as a dual selfie camera.

From the sketches, we can also see a fingerprint reader on the side and a USB-C connector. Interestingly, the patent also revealed the fulfillment of the IP certification. The phone should be resistant not only against water, but also against dust. If these informace confirms, it will be the first flexible phone with IP certification.

Phone Galaxy Fold Lite should not support 5G networks, it should also be saved by the fact that the flexible display will not be protected by special glass, but by plastic, similar to the first Fold. The rest of the phone's body should already be made up of a combination of aluminum and tempered glass. The price of this phone should be around the amount of 1099 dollars, which is a comparable amount that manufacturers ask for current "classic" flagship models.
