Many experts have been predicting the gradual demise of HDDs and the rise and development of SSDs for a long time. The recent introduction of Sony's PlayStation 5 was further evidence that SSDs have finally become affordable enough to gradually replace HDDs in many cases. Samsung is not going to be left behind in this trend and has launched a service in Germany called "Samsung SSD Upgrade Service".

As the name suggests, this program allows German customers of Samsung's partners to switch their computers from HDD to SSD, while services such as data transfer are also part of the program. The price of the service and its details have not yet been published, but according to available reports, it seems that customers will be able to supply their own SSD - the only condition, of course, will be that it is a drive from Samsung's workshop.

Samsung SSD QVO 860

Susannne Hoffmann from Samsung Electronics emphasizes that German users who want to replace the classic HDD with an SSD in their computers do not need to invest dizzying sums in the upgrade. For example, the Samsung 860 QVO model is considered a financially relatively affordable SSD, which costs 1 euros (roughly 109,9 crowns) with 2900TB of storage. The company is currently working on a 4th Gen PCIe SSD with 8TB of storage, and is also rumored to release an 8TB 970 QVO SSD next month, which could further reduce the prices of lower capacity SSDs. It is not yet XNUMX% confirmed when and if Samsung will make this service available in other countries of the world, but the probability of further expansion is quite high.
