For several months now, Google has been working on a feature to quickly share files with others. This will be a similar feature that owners Apple products may be known as AirDrop. On Androidu will be called Nearby Sharing and it is essentially a new generation Android Beam.

Google news pointed to video for developers, where, among other things, they explain how they can integrate the function into their applications. From the video we can see that if we want to share, for example, a picture, then on the sharing screen we will see the four most frequent contacts, four favorite applications, the option of quick copying and, now, the option for quick sharing with others. If users have Nearby Sharing enabled, they will be able to quickly send the image to the surrounding area. The activation of Nearby Sharing will take place classically in the quick launch panel, where a new icon will appear, as we can see in the second screenshot.

Nearby Sharing is supposed to have versus Apple AirDrop one big advantage. Google plans to expand not only to the system Android, but also on Chrome OS, Windows, Linux and macOS. And that's thanks to the fact that the function is supposed to be integrated into the Chrome browser. Nearby Sharing will thus reach a much larger number of devices than AirDrop, and the usability of the function will increase considerably.
