After a long time, Google decided to redesign the Photos application in order to keep up with modern trends. Among other things, the application is already celebrating its fifth anniversary. During this time, Photos has become one of the best apps that Google has to offer. The redesign of the application is divided into several parts. For example, there was a new logo, a redistribution of the main menu and even new functions.

The Google Photos logo has been simplified, but the colors and shape are preserved. The main change directly in the application is in the bottom menu, where there are only three new items - Photos, Search and Library. You can also notice that the photos have a larger preview, they are more crowded on each other and if it is a video, the preview will play automatically. Google is also focusing more on memories. In this section you will see many more old photos and videos from the past. Not surprisingly, Google says Memories is a very popular feature in Photos, so it's only logical that the feature gets more space. It will also be possible to turn off memories from a certain time period, and users will also be able to select people who will not appear in the memories.

In the search section, the main novelty is an interactive map, through which you will be able to quickly view photos. Thanks to this function, you can quickly search for photos of only the location. The more you zoom in on the map, the more accurate the results you will receive. Google did not forget to forget that in the settings it offers the option to remove the location from the photos, if you do not care about this function. Saving the location can also be canceled by removing access rights to the location from the photo application.

In the library section, you will see albums, a trash can with deleted photos, archived photos, as well as favorite photos and videos. The update is released gradually on Android i iOS, but unfortunately cannot be forced manually. Google activates it on the server side, so it may take some time before it reaches you.
