Google has been experimenting with the bottom bar in Chrome for years. We could see several different solutions, which always made it to the beta version at the most. So the stable version of the Chrome browser still has the bar and controls at the very top. Now Google has prepared a new bottom bar that can be activated in the beta version of Chrome.

Some of you may still remember Chrome Home, Duplex or Duet. These are some of the footer names Google has tested over four years. Duet was the last, and Google ended its development at the end of May. After about a month of waiting, we got a replacement with the provisional name "Conditional Tab Strip". You can try to activate this bar in the beta version of Chrome 84. Just copy and paste the following text into the search bar: chrome://flags/#enable-conditional-strip. Unfortunately, this does not guarantee that the new bar will appear, because Google also activates the function on the server side.

You can see an image in the gallery that shows this bottom bar. It offers quick switching between the last open pages and also two buttons. With the first, you can quickly close the window, with the second, on the contrary, you can open a new window. Whether we will see this bar in the stable version of the browser is still in the stars. But it certainly won't be surprising if Google cancels this solution as well. Fortunately, if you want a browser with a bottom bar, it exists at Androidwith many alternatives such as Firefox Preview, Samsung Internet Browser or Microsoft Edge.
