Rakuten Viber, one of the world's leading communication applications, presents a campaign to support humanitarian organizations fighting famine in the world, which is currently further aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic. That's why Viber introduces stickers and a community dedicated to this topic. The aim is to bring together users, staff and partner humanitarian organizations such as the International Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), World Wide Fund (for Nature), WWF, UNICEF, U-report and the International Organization for Migration.

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the operation of almost all institutions and fields. This also applies to the food supply, which is vital for survival. According to estimates The United Nations (World Food Program WFP) from this April, there are at least 265 million people in the world who will be on the brink of famine in 2020. This number is at least twice as large as it was a year ago, and Viber is therefore taking steps to reverse this trend.

Apart from the community "Fight World Hunger Together", which wants to educate its members, the project also includes stickers in English a Russian. The new community is the first initiative of its kind and aims to inform members about how they can change their habits around food consumption, shopping, cooking, how they can learn to waste less food or how they can help people who are in need. In addition, of course, he will inform them about the facts regarding the famine in the world. The content will be jointly created by Viber and relevant humanitarian organizations that have their own channels on the communication platform. People can contribute by downloading stickers, for example. Viber donates all of this revenue to relevant humanitarian organizations. In addition, Viber gives those who cannot donate the opportunity to support the project in a slightly different way. You can add your friends and family members to the new community, who can then participate in financial assistance. Once the community reaches 1 million members, Viber will donate $10 to humanitarian organizations.

"The world is changing faster than ever, and COVID-19 is making already vulnerable parts of the world's population even more vulnerable. One of the biggest consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic is the lack of food and the increasing number of people affected by famine. And Viber can't just sit idly by,” said Djamel Agaoua, CEO of Rakuten Viber.
