South Korea's Samsung is known for sparing no expense on its devices and trying to constantly innovate and push technology forward. This is evidenced by the fact that the company constantly, even during the crisis, builds research centers around the world and finds the best talents for them. And this year, the amount spent on this segment became a record, as Samsung spent up to 8.9 billion dollars, which is roughly 10.58 trillion Korean won, on research and development in the first half of this year alone. This is roughly 500 billion won more than in the same period last year, and according to company officials, this amount is expected to increase continuously in the coming years.

After all, combined spending for this industry accounted for nearly 50% of all Samsung costs and had a significant impact on sales as well. At the same time, the South Korean manufacturer hired up to 1400 new employees during the first half of the year, increasing the number of workers in South Korea alone to an incredible 106. The company also improved in the television segment, where it increased its market share to 074%, thus at least partially offsetting the losses in the area of smartphones, where Samsung did not do very well and the market share fell to "only" 32.4%. One way or another, this giant is definitely not going to let up on innovation and wants to increase its share in the smartphone segment, where it finally wants to improve after a long time.
