The popular communication application Telegram will receive two welcome features in its latest update. In addition to the long-awaited video calls, it will also offer support for chat bubbles in the operating system Android 11. The developers of the application informed the users about the details of the update on their blog.

The video calling feature is available to all platform users as part of the latest update Android i iOS, specifically through the contact page. All calls are then secured by end-to-end encryption. To verify this encryption, Telegram uses a string of four random emojis on the display of each of the participating users - if the string of emojis matches on all sides, users can be sure that their video call is securely encrypted. Video calls are currently only available in the Telegram mobile application, and for now it only offers the possibility of connecting two users, but support for group calls will be added in the coming months. Video calls in the Telegram application will also receive additional features and improvements in the future.

Another novelty in the latest Telegram update is the addition of support for chat bubbles in the operating system Android 11. As part of this new feature, owners of compatible mobile devices will get "chat heads", known for example from the mobile version of Facebook Messenger. For now, the feature is gradually rolling out to owners of devices with the beta version Androidu 11 – so it is not yet fully completed, it may be unstable and show partial errors.
