According to the latest reports, it looks like Google has been getting down to the nitty-gritty of improving a number of its software products lately. It wasn't long ago that we at Samsungmagazine informed you that Google's Gboard software keyboard is getting a new feature in the form of real-time voice translation. This week there were reports that Gboard is getting another useful feature.

Google's Gboard software keyboard has offered users the ability to set their own themes for some time, but until now they didn't have the ability to automatically adapt to a system-wide dark mode. But users using the Gboard keyboard in the beta testing program can now rejoice. Google has released a brand new theme (just for them so far) called System Auto. As the name suggests, this is a theme that can automatically adapt to changing from dark to light mode and vice versa.

The changes were noted in Gboard beta 9.7. Owners of this version can now set the mentioned theme on the keyboard, tuned by the system dark mode. In the case of switching to light mode, the Gboard keyboard in the mentioned version uses a traditional white color, in dark mode it turns into a dark gray shade. There are currently no other customization options available for this mode, but users can enable or disable the display of key borders. At the moment, it is not yet clear when the System Auto theme will make it to the regular version of the Gboard keyboard. It is also not certain whether the full version will not bring other changes with it.
