Samsung is canceling its developer conference for the first time in five years. The South Korean giant confirmed today that it has decided to cancel the event due to concerns about the disease COVID-19. At the same time, the company states that, despite the canceled conference, it will try to find ways to involve the developer community in the events in the future.

In its official statement, Samsung expressed disappointment that this year's conference will not take place. "Our top priority is the health and safety of our employees, developer community, partners and local communities," it says in the said statement. In its report, Samsung did not mention any other reasons that led it to cancel the Samsung Developer Conference 2020, but according to some sources, there are actually more reasons. Samsung's developer conference is far from the first major event that had to be canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But some say that apart from health concerns, one of the reasons for the cancellation of the Samsung Developer Conference 2020 is the stagnant development of some services and software, including Bixby. The company presented the most important hardware at its Unpacked events, which is why there would not be much to show at SDC 2020. Another reason can also be the effort to reduce costs - holding large events such as a developer's conference is not exactly the cheapest thing, and the current situation is very uncertain from a financial point of view. However, everyone hopes that next year everything will be fine, and that this year's SDC will again be the only canceled Samsung developer conference for a long time.
