The traditional mobile technology fair Mobile World Congress (MWC), held in Barcelona, ​​usually takes place at the turn of February and March, but this year's edition was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now GSMA, which organizes the event, has announced that the next edition will take place from June 28-1. July.

In addition, the date of the MWC Shanghai "side" event has changed, moving from June to February (February 23-25 ​​to be exact). The date of the second "side" event, which is MWC Los Angeles, remains unchanged, this year's edition will take place as planned on 28-30 October

The GSMA said in a statement that it had decided to move the Barcelona event from February to June to deal with external circumstances related to the COVID-19 outbreak. According to its CEO Mats Granryd, the health and safety of exhibitors, visitors, staff and residents of the Catalan capital is of "the utmost importance".

MWC Barcelona is one of the biggest and also the oldest technology events in the world. Every year, the largest players in the technology industry and smaller manufacturers meet here to present the public and their business partners with hot news not only in the field of mobile technology. Last year, over 109 people (the highest attendance in history) from almost 200 countries of the world did not miss the fair, and more than 2400 companies (including dozens of local, i.e. Catalan representatives) exhibited their new products.
