The new improvements are sure to please teachers and lecturers as well, as the Google Meet service will also receive a new attendance function.

The measures associated with this year's coronavirus pandemic have forced many users to work, learn or teach from home. The Google Meet platform thus began to be used to a greater extent than usual, to which Google reacted quite flexibly with various improvements. For example, the Meet video conference application received a background blur function for better privacy, and most recently, users can activate the ambient noise suppression function for even more comfortable communication from home. Thanks to this function, during video calls, distracting elements such as the clicking of the keyboard, the opening and closing of doors or the sounds of traffic or construction work from outside will be effectively filtered out. Google Meet uses artificial intelligence in the cloud to effectively isolate noise.

The ambient noise suppression function can be activated in the relevant application by clicking on Settings. By default, this feature is turned off, but Google recommends disabling it if non-verbal audio is an important part of the conversation - for example, for online musical instrument lessons. Ambient noise cancellation is available for G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education. Not included in G Suite Basic, G Suite Business, G Suite for Education, or G Suite for Nonprofits. It is also not available for users in South Africa, United Arab Emirates and surrounding areas.
