The tendency of mobile phone displays to get bigger has encountered one insurmountable problem in recent years – the selfie camera on the front of the device. So manufacturers started looking for a way around this inconvenience by cutting out a place for the camera in the glass of the display. The cut-out area has finally shrunk so much that it is hardly noticeable on new Samsung phones. About to Galaxy However, the Fold 3 should go even further and be the first Samsung to offer a front camera under the surface of the display, without the need to cut out the glass in any way.

The current production strategy of the South Korean company uses the Infinity-O design, which it produces through laser cutters so precise that there is no noticeable blurring at the edges of the cutout when the display is placed over the camera. The used HIAA 1 technology is said to be implemented during the production of the upcoming ones series S21 and Note 21, because Samsung does not have time to perfect its successor with a double at the end.

The HIAA 2 is supposed to use lasers to punch a huge number of tiny, invisible holes into the display where it overlaps the selfie camera. The hole must be large enough to allow the necessary amount of light to flow to the camera sensor. However, the process is relatively demanding, and due to its youth, Samsung is unable to produce millions of devices using it to make sense in the production of displays for the S21 and Note 21. Galaxy The Z Fold 3, on the other hand, will be available in a more limited quantity, such that the production capacity for the implementation of the camera under the display should already be sufficient. We will probably see the third Z Fold within a year.
