5G networks have recently been a much-discussed topic both in the Czech Republic and in the rest of the world, but there are certain controversies surrounding them. However, all three mobile operators in South Korea have ordered base stations for 5G networks in the 28GHz band from Samsung to show companies there that they are ready to offer them state-of-the-art solutions.

The development of the 5G network is a little further in South Korea than here, and now the local mobile operators have decided that it is time to expand 5G in the B2B (Business to Business) field. Operator SK Telekom reportedly ordered 80 5G base stations from Samsung, KT and LG Uplus 40-50 stations. By the end of the year, all operators will choose at least ten ideal places where they will demonstrate their new services. First, 5G stations will expand in buildings where there is a need to transmit huge amounts of data with very low latency. 5G in the 28 Ghz band can also be used in self-driving vehicles or to transmit super-realistic content. According to confirmed information, all three Korean operators are also planning to demonstrate, in connection with the 5G network, various services such as augmented reality, virtual reality, automatic patrol robots or self-driving cars.

The pilot project also envisages replacing parts of cable LANs in government public networks with 5G technology. But this will take some time, because the Ministry of Science and ICT there has ordered each of the operators to install at least 15 base stations, this follows from the conditions of the 000Ghz band auction. You might think that this is a very high number, but the problem is that the range of the radio signal in the 28Ghz band is very short - about 28% of the value in the 17Ghz band. Operators plan to use it to commercialize 3,5G networks by the end of this year, at the latest at the beginning of next year. It is a question whether even a new one iPhone 12 will bring 5G.
