The development of processors for smartphones is moving forward unstoppably and Samsung is not left behind, it should soon introduce a completely new chip for mid-range phones Exynos 1080. Leaked informace indicate that it should outperform even the best current processor.

The Exynos 1080 will be manufactured using a 5nm process, as is the case with the company's A14 Bionic processors Apple and the yet to be announced Snapdragon 875 from Qualcomm and Kirin 9000 from Huawei. Thanks to the improved production process, the new processor will be up to 980% more powerful and 20% more economical than its predecessor, the Exynos 50, thanks to the new Cortex-A78 cores.

According to the well-known leaker @IceUniverse, the upcoming chipset scored over 650 points in the Antutu benchmark, beating even the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 000 Plus processor. However, it should be noted that the Snapdragon 865 Plus is manufactured using a 865nm process, so the score is completely understandable. However, at least this result gives us hope that the upcoming high-end Exynos 7 processor, which we will probably see next year in Galaxy S21 (S30), could be comparable in performance to the Snapdragon 875.

We should expect the Exynos 1080 in mid-range smartphones. However, probably the first device in which we will see the chip will not be from Samsung's workshop, as it should be the Vivo X60. We can also say with certainty that we will not meet the chipset anywhere else than in China. All informace about the upcoming Exynos 1080 are from an official source, they were provided by the director of the Semiconductor Research Institute, Dr. Mr. Xuebao.
